How to read wagering requirements before you accept a bonus
A wagering requirement (also called turnover or playthrough) is the amount you must bet before bonus-related winnings can be withdrawn. It is expressed as a multiple, such as 35x. It is the single number that decides whether a bonus is worth taking, and it is easy to misread.

What 35x actually means
Multiply the amount the rule applies to by the multiple. If the rule applies to a €100 bonus, 35x means €3,500 in bets before the bonus winnings are released. Bets, not wins: a €1 spin that loses still counts as €1 towards the total. You are not expected to lose €3,500; you are expected to put it through the game, which on average loses the house edge on every dollar played.
Bonus only, or deposit plus bonus?
This one line in the terms doubles or halves the work. Take a hypothetical €100 deposit matched at 100%:
| Basis | Amount it applies to | At 35x you wager |
|---|---|---|
| Bonus only | €100 | €3,500 |
| Deposit plus bonus | €200 | €7,000 |
The terms of the five casinos on this site are summarised in our reference table as a single multiple (35x at four of them, 40x at Casinova). The table does not say which basis applies, so read the full terms before you accept.
The terms that sit next to the multiple
- Time limit. All five casinos give 10 days. Divide the amount you must wager by 10 to see the daily turnover you need.
- Free-spin winnings. They carry their own multiple, 40x at all five.
- Maximum bet. Kingmaker and Cleobetra list €5 while a bonus is active. Exceed it once and the bonus and winnings can be void.
- Cap on winnings. Several casinos cap what you can cash out from bonus winnings, reported as 10x the bonus. Kingmaker lists none.
- Excluded payment methods. Deposits with Skrill and Neteller do not qualify for the welcome bonus at any of the five.
- Game weighting. Not every game counts fully. Pokies typically count in full, table games less. Check the list in the terms.
A worked example
Say you take a €500 bonus at 35x on the bonus alone. You must wager €17,500 within 10 days, which is €1,750 a day. At the €5 maximum bet that is at least 3,500 bets, or 350 a day. If the multiple applies to deposit plus bonus it doubles to €35,000. Ask yourself whether you will really play that much, and whether you would be happy with the result if you do not finish.
Five questions before you click accept
- What is the multiple, and what is it applied to?
- How many days do I have?
- What is the maximum bet?
- Is there a cap on what I can withdraw from the winnings?
- Does my payment method qualify?
If you cannot find an answer in the terms, ask support in writing and keep the reply. If the answer is unclear, a bonus can be declined, and playing without one removes the turnover rule entirely. Read about withdrawing winnings next.
Offshore casinos are not licensed in Australia, so there is no local regulator to settle a disagreement about these terms. 18+. If gambling is a problem, call Gambling Help Online on 1800 858 858.
